Is there an entry fee for the festival?
No, the festival is free admission for all. Donations are gratefully accepted at the Beaubears Island Interpretive Centre to help support future events and programming.
Is alcohol permitted on the festival grounds?
Not this year. The ‘Chi Shanty Music Festival is a family-friendly, alcohol-free event during the day this year. But don’t worry, the fun continues in the evening! Check out our Chi Shanty After Party at Timbership and Chi Breezy (Ritchie Wharf), Mike’s Bar & Grill with Raglan Road, and O’Donaghue’s Irish Pub for great vibes, and local drink specials.
Is there seating available?
We recommend bringing your own lawn chair or blanket for comfortable viewing. There will be a limited number of picnic tables on site.
Will there be food and drinks available?
Yes. The Nelson Doyle Dancers will be running a BBQ both days, and there will also be food vendors on sight all weekend. You’ll also find plenty of great local restaurants nearby in Miramichi!
Where is the festival located?
The main festival grounds are at 35 St. Patrick’s Drive in Miramichi. Look for the signage at the main entrance, where you’ll also find a festival map.
How do I get to Beaubears Island?
Island ferry service will be offered by donation, weather permitting. The Grizzled Buccaneers' swordfighting workshop will be held on the island Saturday at 1:00 PM.
Is there parking nearby?
Yes, there is parking available near the Interpretive Centre, aross the street at Nelson Rural School, and on nearby side streets. Please respect local residences and obey parking signs.
Are pets allowed?
Leashed and well-behaved pets are welcome in the outdoor festival area. Please clean up after them.
Is the site wheelchair accessible?
The main festival grounds are mostly accessible, though some grassy or uneven areas may be more difficult to navigate. The ferry to Beaubears Island is not wheelchair accessible at this time. There are wheelchair accessible bathrooms on sight,
Are there washrooms on site?
Yes. Portable toilets will be available!
